Recycling your used printer cartridges
Why you should recycle your printer cartridges
There are 65 million printer ink and toner cartridges used in the U.K every year and most people don't realise how much damage throwing away those cartridges causes to the environment. So think of the environmental impact before you throw away those used cartridges or toners and recycle or donate them instead.
Most cartridge recycling schemes are free to use and some offer you cash in return for your used cartridges.
Where and how to recycle your toner and ink cartridges
Most of the major printer manufacturers provide free post labels or free pre-paid postage bags or boxes to return used cartridges for recycling.
Epson also has dedicated Epson Express Centres throughout the UK and the Republic of Ireland where you can take your inkjet or toner cartridges to and deposit in the collection bins.
Cannon also has cartridge collection boxes for bigger quantities of cartridges, which are collected when full.
Some schemes give cash for used toners or cartridges which you can keep, or you may want to donate to charity.
Help the environment and the British Red Cross by donating your used Lexmark, Hewlett Packard or Dell inkjet cartridges and send them to their recycling centre.
Get up to £ 3.00 per empty ink cartridge if you’re a school, charity organisation or business. They provide prepaid envelopes suitable for 1 to 5 cartridges, and pallet collections can be arranged for large quantities.
